On Dublin's Bachelor's Walk, there is a very good Restaurant and Book Shop called "The Winding Stair" Check them both out when next you visit Dublin.

Stand with your back to O'Connell's Monument facing across the river and O'Connell's Bridge.

Walk to your right, up the quays with the River Liffey on your left. The cafe and bookshop are about 100m on your left, past the turn for Liffey Street.

While you are standing at O'Connell's Monument have a look around it.

Check out - one of the four bronze angels has a bullet hole in her chest. She was shot during the 1916 Rising. You may remember the statue was covered in snow in John Huston's last movie "the Dead". Further up the quays, you will find other locations from that great little movie. John Huston was unable to travel to Ireland, because of his illness, but sent his Director of Photography, Fred Murphy, to shoot the exterior snow/street scenes. Mr. Huston had to remain in the dry heat of the Mojave Desert to help his emphysema.
